Flying Creatures in Southeast USA

Many sightings of apparent pterosaurs have been reported in the southeastern United States, over the past ten years. Clear thinking is needed to evaluate these reports without being overpowered by bias against standard models of extinction.

Georgia Sightings

According to the nonfiction book Live Pterosaurs in America (third edition):

I received an email from a lady who lives in Winder, Georgia. She seems to have had the rare privilege of observing two pterosaurs, apparently different individuals of the same species, on two different days.

This part of Highway 82 [east of Winder, GA] has few houses and almost no stop signs. . . . She had driven less than ten miles, just leaving an area of pasture, entering an area of thick woods, around a mild downhill curve . . . when an animal suddenly flew from the right, just over the front of her car. . . .

She told me what made her yell out loud: It was the tail; she looked up at a “very long” tail that had a strange shape at the end. She later sent me some sketches . . . one of them showing a thick almost-heart-shape at the end of the tail . . .

Flying Creatures in North Carolina

This involves a sighting near Asheville, in western North Carolina: a huge black flying creature

Live Pterosaur in North Carolina?

I saw something HUGE above me in the sky.  It looked like a pale greenish white and smooth-skinned. It didn’t appear to have any feathers, and it had the tail with the diamond shape on the end.

Reading Mother Goose to Pre-Schoolers

The old Childcraft books from the 1940′s and 1950′s are not easy to find now.
